NDIS and Aged Care Funding for Mobility Aids

NDIS and Aged Care Funding for Mobility Aids

Some customers ask whether mobility aids and daily living aids can be funded through the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) or aged care packages. This page provides general information to help you understand your options.

Important: Funding eligibility depends entirely on your individual plan, funding category, and circumstances. We recommend checking with your plan manager, support coordinator, or aged care provider before purchasing. The information on this page is general only and does not constitute financial or NDIS advice.

NDIS Funding

The NDIS may fund assistive technology and daily living aids for eligible participants, depending on their individual plan and goals. Mobility aids such as walking frames, rollators, and daily living aids may fall under the Assistive Technology or Daily Activities support categories.

To check whether a product may be funded under your NDIS plan:

  • Review your current NDIS plan and funding categories
  • Speak with your support coordinator or plan manager
  • Contact the NDIS directly on 1800 800 110 or visit ndis.gov.au

We recommend keeping a copy of your tax invoice for any purchase you intend to claim under your NDIS plan.

Home Care Packages

If you receive a Home Care Package (HCP) through the aged care system, some mobility aids and daily living aids may be funded through your package, depending on your package level and provider agreement.

To check eligibility:

  • Contact your home care provider and ask whether the product you are considering can be funded through your package
  • Request a quote and provide it to your provider before purchasing
  • Keep your invoice for reimbursement or acquittal purposes

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

The CHSP may also fund some equipment and aids through allied health referrals. Speak with your GP or occupational therapist about eligibility.

Purchasing Privately

Many customers purchase mobility aids privately. Our prices are clearly listed and all products are covered under Australian Consumer Law. We issue invoices for all purchases which can be used for reimbursement claims where applicable.
